Forget about it!
I posted this quote to Facebook & Twitter a few days ago…
Many are forgiven only a little. Not because the grace of the King is limited, but because the faith of the sinner is small.
As Christians it’s not hard for us to believe, by faith, that God spoke the world into existence. We accept, by faith, that He was and is and is to come. We trust, by faith, that God created us in His image. We believe, by faith, that there is a heaven and a hell, and that as believers we will spend eternity in heaven. We don’t have any trouble with those areas of our faith, for the most part. But where our faith is the smallest is believing He can forgive our many sins and failures. And for that reason, we’re forgiven only a little. Not because the grace of our King is limited - it’s not! If grace were an ocean, we’d all be drowning! It’s because our faith as a sinner is small. We have a hard time forgiving ourselves, so we can’t imagine God forgiving us.
A friend and family member posted under my above status on Facebook this scripture reference…
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past…I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more” (Isaiah 43:18 & 25).
If we would grasp and claim this scripture, we would have no trouble being forgiven “in full.” We can live in victory by forgetting the former things, not dwelling on the past, and by rejoicing that He remembers our sins no more! This is a new year – forget the former things! Tom the Homeless Man says in his Vietnamese accent, “Forget about it!” God doesn’t remember our sins, why should we keep bringing them up?! Forget about it!
