If I can just get to the sunshine…
This morning the rain had moved out but the clouds were still around, causing the morning to be dark and dreary. I pulled out of the Post Office and looked down Hwy. 9, and about 1/2 mile away the sun was shining beautifully on the bridge that crosses I-85. Yet where I was the clouds were almost black and were hanging low, threatening to spill rain everywhere. I thought to myself, “If I can just get down there to the sunshine, it’ll be a much brighter day!”
Maybe your current situation is dark and gloomy, and there is a constant threat of rain. Focusing on the current situation will get you all bummed out. You may even find yourself fighting serious discouragement. Up ahead is a brighter day. Up ahead are clear skies. Up ahead is a new day dawning. God promises us that we will not be overtaken by our circumstances. Our trials and temptations will not win if we keep our trust and focus on Him. Look ahead and set your sights on the sunshine. Don’t give up. If you can just get to the sunshine, it’ll be a much brighter day!
“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways” (Proverbs 4:25 & 26).
“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27b).
