Count it all joy – again!
That Lord, He sure likes to use life lessons. After yesterday’s devotional my JOY has been put to the test! Caleb’s car would not start yesterday afternoon, and after a thorough exam it’s been diagnosed with a bad steering lock unit, with a nice price tag of $950.00. Count it all joy!! Yikes. This on the heels of Clay and me launching a new budget on January 1st with big plans of making a serious dent this year. Count it all joy! So he and I have been brainstorming all day as to how we can come up with this extra cash without touching our checking account. Count it all joy!
Rather than stressing or wringing our hands or getting all worked up and depressed, Clay, Caleb and I made a pact that we’d pray for God’s direction and provision. I decided to go ahead and pray for a miracle while I was talking to the Lord. And then I started typing this devotional. When I referenced the problem the car was having, I wasn’t sure that it was called a steering lock unit. So I went to Google to do a little research. As I typed steering lock unit into the search window, the first hit was 2009 Nissan Altima steering lock unit warranty extension. Warranty extension – warranty EXTENSION!! Seriously?? I sent the link to Clay, he made a couple of calls, and at 5:00 p.m. I got a call from the local Nissan dealership that said, “Your car is ready. Come get it. There’s no charge to you.” Oh yes, I count it all joy!!
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” (James 1:2-4).
Facing a trial? Pray rather than stress. Count it all joy! And watch God work.
